What-cha doing?!

Kelly wonders what you are doing this weekend?

Thinking about looking at some really neat cats?

Cats with personality?

Cats who like to play?

Cats who like to laze around?

Cats who love dogs?

Cats who want to be only cats?

Cats who would love another cat or dog playmate?

Cats who are bold and curious?

Cats who are more introverted and loyal to one person?

Come and see - we've got them all!  Sat. April 4 from 11-1 p.m. at the PetCo in Richfield at 66th and Lyndale Ave. S.

Highlights

Fudge is a cute girl who hasn't met another cat she doesn't like.  She gets along well with a small or medium sized dog too and enjoys being around family members.  She's playful, busy and has lots of cute antics as well as a gorgeous, soft coat.

Soon it will be kitten season.  This group will be ready for adoption in early to mid April.  They are playful and busy, as all healthy kittens are, and have big motors to let you know how much they like you.  The boys are the black and white ones, the girls are the orange ones.  Watch for their individual bios to be posted at PetHavenMN.org, click on Cats Available for Adoption.

Cat Adoption, Sunday March 22, 1-3 p.m.

We'll have an adoption coming up with many unique personalities and looks -  ranging in age from 7 months to 9 years old.

Knuffle came to us from a hoarder house with a very bad cold as a young kitten.  She has struggled to get over it but with the help of antibiotics is now ready to find a home.  She'd love to go with another cat or kitten and also seeks attention from you by crying at your feet.

Some of the others who will be attending are: Blake, Noddy, Zena, Parker, Gerry, Riley, Moose, Alex  and Serena.  Between 13 and 18 cats and older kittens will be there.  Stop by, visit, enjoy!

Leslie - on his way home

We're hopeful that Leslie has found his new home and will be kept inside and safe, warm and loved for the rest of his life.  A client at the clinic was looking for another cat and has had a few weeks to ponder his adoption.

He's recovered from his leg amputation and only needs to grow hair back now and continue to gain strength.

He's happy to have that time behind him as he had nerve spasms for several weeks after the surgery that caused him a lot of discomfort despite continued  pain management.

He's had his teeth cleaned and the ones removed that were damaged when he was hit by a car.

He's been living the life of Riley at the clinic he's been recovering at.  Everyone on the staff has enjoyed petting him and having him give head-butts.

Keep your fingers crossed that he will fit in well at his new home and they will think he is a charming as the clinic staff does.

Paisley -

Paisley stopped by to say "hello" once again.  He's still available for adoption.  The clinic where he is living feels he could be trained to do tricks because he is very food motivated!

He has changed his mind about dogs and would prefer that they not be a part of his life.

He has gotten along with another female cat but he is FIV positive so some caution would need to be exercised to make sure he doesn't pass that along to another one.

FIV is not casually passed from cat to cat.  It is transmitted in deep wound bites so Paisley is unlikely to share the disease if he isn't in a fight with another cat.

He would do best in an adult home since he gives love bites and likes the chance to 'wrestle' with your hand or arm if he is over-excited.

Who is Irish?

Moose would like you to know that he has a little Irish in him and is still looking for a home!  He's a lover, playful, a big boy, and a wonderful lap and toe warmer -

If you want to have a party at home with some friends, he'll be happy to socialize with everyone.  Friends and family who like to give tummy rubs are especially welcome!

Sadie struts her stuff again

We've been talking about how difficult it is to find homes for black cats and dogs.  They are often ignored and certainly overlooked.  Because of that more black companion animals are euthanized in shelters and pounds across the country than any other color.

Sadie has had some wonderful pictures taken of her by Sarah of SarahBethPhotography.com. We hope they will help you see a beautiful black cat in a different light!

Sadie is affectionate - she loves to be near you.

Sadie likes to play - she's watching for that ever elusive toy on a pole.

Sadie is cute and a charmer - her antics will keep you enthralled with this girl for years to come.

Sadie loves her foster parents and their home but she does need her own forever home.  We hope that will happen soon for this lovely girl.

Sadie was adopted from Pet Haven as a young kitten in June of 1999.  She was returned to Pet Haven with her cat companion, Jasmine, during the summer of 2008.  Financial problems were given as the reason for the return.  Jasmine found her new home quickly  even though she was older than Sadie - she looked like a siamese and people were attracted to her blue eyes.

Sadie has beaten the odds once - she placed as a cute black kitten.  Please help us find a home for Sadie as a 'middle-aged', gorgeous black adult.  She's loving, she's a great companion, she's playful and adaptable.

Sadie was matted to the skin when she was returned to us, unable to feel the hand of the person she loved.

She has had a 'lion cut' and loves her new 'do'.  She can feel your touch and wants you to touch her often.

She was a perfect client at the groomers and would like to go to the groomer at least twice but probably 3 times a year to maintain this easy coat and feeling. If you enjoy brushing and combing on a very regular basis, she didn't mind that but we were unable to restore her coat to the condition it needed to be in.

We had several people comment at our adoption events today that they appreciate our foster home system, our advocacy for the companion animals in our care and our honesty about their personalities plus helping you find a cat that will fit your needs as well as those of the pet. Sadie approves this message and finds it to be accurate and insightful!  Help us help her into her forever home, please!

Spread the word about Sadie and the other black cats Pet Haven has: Moose, Koko, Panther and Kelly and those who are almost all black; Pazazz/Poppy, Gerry and Panda.  All have intriguing, unique personalities.  All need homes.

Nick - orange tabby, big fellow, snuggler, playful

Betty Boop - gray tabby, polydactyl, lap girl, playful, loves her sister, Brenda

Brenda - gray tabby medium hair polydactyl, playful, loves her sister, Betty, and snuggles in bed

Parker - a laid-back older kitten, he's a charmer with another cat and with people, loves to be groomed and groom another cat and is a definite lap boy

Chance - big and brawny, black and white, loves dogs - you did hear that, right?  He LOVES dogs!

PetCo Richfield  66th and Lyndale Ave. S

Zena - black and white, affectionate, playful, great with another cat

Sundae - calico, a quieter girl who loves her back scratched and to sleep with another cat and be near you

S'more - calico, a little shyer but loves her catnip toys and especially another cat, starting to swirl around your ankles for petting and attention (she's a sucker for canned cat food!)

Kelly - black, friendly and playful, ok on her own or with another cat and tolerates the small dog in her foster home well

Moose - big, black and beautiful, loves to be a lap boy and would especially like a screened porch to be able to sit and yard watch, good with another cat or alone

Riley - beautiful classic brown tabby, she likes attention but isn't pushy about it, a great sunny window girl to have around

Helen - quiet and demure, she likes gentle attention on the cat tree

Serena - playful and affectionate girl who is easily overstimulated which can lead to love bites so best in an adult home

Koko - introvert who is slow to warm up, looking for an only person to live with, prefers a woman, we think

Panther - a boy who walked the streets for several years, big and black, he's a little shy with new people but is a lover, gives kisses, loves to snuggle and sleeps next to you - he has lots of love to share after those years outside with no one to love

All of these cats are among those who will be attending with a few more at each event.
